The Difference You Make:
The Rates & FX area is responsible for sales, trading, and other business activities related to currencies. The CIB eTrading-FX will join the Global FX eTrading team in New York and contribute to the research, design, implementation, and continuous improvement of electronic pricing, market-making, execution, and liquidity-management capabilities across FX. The role sits at the intersection of quantitative research, trading, and technology, using market microstructure analysis and data-driven methods to improve client outcomes, trading performance, and the robustness of the eFX platform. The incumbent is expected to combine strong quantitative judgment with practical knowledge of electronic markets, connectivity, and production trading systems, while operating within the Company’s risk, control, compliance, and model-governance frameworks.

  • Conduct quantitative research on FX market microstructure, liquidity, price formation, spread dynamics, market impact, fill probability, adverse selection, and venue behavior.
  • Develop, calibrate, backtest, and monitor models and signals used in electronic pricing, skewing, hedging, smart order routing, liquidity provision, and algorithmic execution.
  • Analyze high-frequency market and transaction data to identify opportunities to improve pricing quality, execution performance, risk-adjusted P&L, client experience, and liquidity capture.
  • Partner closely with FX traders to translate market intuition and trading objectives into systematic, measurable, and production-ready eTrading solutions.
  • Work with technology teams on the design and evolution of low-latency eFX architecture, market-data pipelines, venue connectivity, order management, and execution workflows.
  • Evaluate and optimize connectivity to electronic venues, ECNs, liquidity providers, aggregators, and client channels, including FIX and API-based integrations.
  • Build and maintain research tooling, analytics, dashboards, and monitoring for model performance, execution quality, transaction cost analysis, venue quality, and production behavior.
  • Perform rigorous model validation, scenario analysis, and post-trade analysis; document assumptions, methodology, limitations, and controls in line with internal governance standards.
  • Monitor live strategies and electronic flows, investigate anomalies or performance degradation, and collaborate with Trading and Technology on timely remediation.
  • Contribute to the eFX research roadmap by assessing new datasets, quantitative techniques, execution methods, market structure changes, and emerging electronic trading technologies.
  • Communicate research findings and recommendations clearly to Trading, Technology, Sales, Risk, Compliance, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Promote disciplined software-development and research practices, including testing, code review, version control, reproducibility, and production monitoring.
