The Difference You Make:

The Life Events – Decedents Processing Specialist is responsible for processing decedent-related requests within Small Business & Consumer Operations, including date-of-death balance requests, account ownership and title changes, estate-related documentation, and required state reporting.

The Specialist reviews and processes requests in accordance with applicable state probate statutes, regulatory requirements, and established bank policies and procedures. The role also serves as a resource to branches and other bank departments by providing guidance on documentation and processing requirements for decedent-related account matters.

  • Review documentation submitted by branches, customers, estate representatives, and other parties to ensure completeness and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Identify missing, incomplete, or inadequate documentation and provide clear guidance regarding additional requirements needed to process the request.
  • Research customer relationships across applicable systems to identify the scope of decedent account ownership, account titling, beneficiaries, and balances as of the date of death.
  • Process date-of-death balance requests and prepare applicable balance information for estate representatives, attorneys, and other authorized parties.
  • Review and process account ownership, signer, and title-change requests involving deceased account owners in accordance with established procedures.
  • Complete required state reporting forms and submit documentation to the appropriate state agencies within applicable requirements and timeframes.
  • Apply general knowledge of estate administration, probate, and small-estate requirements when reviewing and processing decedent-related requests.
  • Develop working knowledge of state-specific probate requirements within the Santander footprint and apply established policies and procedures to routine situations across applicable states.
  • Provide guidance to branches regarding documentation and processing requirements for individual, joint, beneficiary, ITF, and other applicable account ownership structures.
  • Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing, with customers, branches, attorneys, estate representatives, government agencies, and internal business partners.
  • Maintain accurate and complete case records, including required data entry, documentation, and filing.
  • Protect confidential customer and estate information and comply with all applicable privacy, information-security, regulatory, and bank requirements.
  • Manage assigned case inventory to support established service levels, quality standards, and operational objectives.
  • Identify documentation, workflow, or processing issues that may delay case resolution and escalate matters appropriately.
  • Adapt to changes in workflow, legal requirements, systems, policies, and procedures while maintaining accuracy and service quality.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree: in related field or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education - Required


Qualifications:

  • 3+ Years In same or similar role. - Required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with customers, team and management.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, percentages and volume.
  • Adequate knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common metrics used to measure and monitor operational performance, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and provide clear and concise communication with a wide audience of interna

  • Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail.

What Else You Need To Know:

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

Base Pay Range:

Minimum:

$37,500.00 USD

Maximum:

$60,000.00 USD
