Job Description – Global Head of Data (DCB)
Digital Consumer Bank (DCB), Santander
The Global Head of Data for the Digital Consumer Bank (DCB) is responsible for defining, standardizing, and executing CDAIO’s global data strategy and governance to enable scalable growth, personalization, risk management, and analytics driven decisioning across all DCB markets.
This role leads the centralized Data capability within DCB to achieve economies of scale, while ensuring data management execution remains embedded within countries to preserve business alignment and local context.
The role partners closely with Country CDAIOs, T&O teams, and business leadership to:
- Deliver accurate, complete, and timely data for prioritized use cases
- Build a unified data platform aligned to global frameworks (e.g., Customer 360,
- Feature Store)
- Establish robust governance and data management foundations
- Scale reusable analytics capabilities across markets
- Measure and drive progress against DCB OKRs
This is a strategic leadership role, accountable for global enablement, execution acceleration, and cross-country data and analytics coherence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Global Data Strategy
- Define and own the global DCB data strategy, aligned with DCB business
- objectives and technology roadmap.
- Translate DCB priorities into data and analytics OKRs and execution plans.
- Ensure global alignment while enabling local flexibility and execution.
2. Unified Data Platform
- Establish and oversee a unified, cloud-based analytics platform aligned with the
- global technology stack.
- Ensure consistent capabilities across regions for:
- Customer 360
- Customer Interaction & Event frameworks
- Feature Store and AI enablement
- Partner with Technology and Architecture teams to ensure scalability, performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.
- Ensure the platform serves as the foundation for AI, personalization, fraud,
- segmentation, journey orchestration, and similar advanced analytics
3. Data Availability for Priority Use Cases
- Ensure accurate, complete, and trusted data is available for all prioritized country and global use cases.
- Oversee data intake, integration, and prioritization processes across regions.
- Actively unblock execution when data, platform, or dependency constraints arise.
4. Governance, Risk & Compliance Enablement
- Build strong data governance foundations across DCB, in partnership with Global
- and Country CDOs.
- Ensure data management programs align with:
- Global policies and standards
- Local regulatory and compliance requirements
- Oversee data quality, lineage, access controls, and audit readiness.
- Embed governance through automation and standardized workflows, not manual
- controls.
5. Analytics Portfolio Orchestration
- Coordinate with Country CDAIOs to manage the portfolio of prioritized analytics
- use cases.
- Ensure alignment between:
- Country priorities
- Global capabilities and reusable assets
- DCB strategic objectives
- Provide hands-on support to resolve cross-country dependencies and accelerate
- delivery.
6. Measurement, Insights & Advisory Support
- Measure progress against DCB OKRs and analytics performance metrics.
- Provide advisory and consulting support to countries to help them meet DCB goals.
- Act as a trusted partner to country leadership on analytics strategy, maturity, and execution.
7. Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and inspire a global and federated data and analytics organization.
- Partner with:
- Country CDAIO’s
- Technology & Architecture leaders
- Global and Country CDOs
- Business and Product leadership
- Establish strong forums for alignment, knowledge sharing, and continuous
improvement.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- 15+ years of experience in data and analytics roles in large, complex organizations.
- Proven experience leading global or multi-region data and analytics
- organizations.
- Deep understanding of:
- Data platforms and cloud analytics architectures
- Advanced analytics and AI enablement
- Data governance and regulatory requirements in financial services
- Strong track record of scaling analytics capabilities through reuse and
- standardization.
- Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders across geographies and functions.
Preferred
- Experience in banking, consumer finance, fintech, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with operating in federated or matrixed organizations.
- Experience driving data programs at enterprise scale.
Success Measures
- Adoption and performance of the global DCB data platform.
- Availability and quality of data for prioritized use cases.
- Reuse rate of global analytics and AI capabilities across countries.
- Progress against DCB OKRs.
- Reduced time-to-value for analytics use cases.
- Strong governance posture with minimal regulatory friction.
- Positive feedback from Country CAOs and business leaders.
What Else You Need To Know:
The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.
