The Difference You Make:
The Head of Legal - Auto is responsible for assisting the Chief Legal Officer in leading corporate strategic and tactical initiatives of the Auto business and serving as legal advisor on company strategies and their implementation.  Manages legal agreements and other transactional work at the company, including reviewing contracts and other legal documents and working with the business units in negotiating any deals and/or agreements. Provides legal advice regarding a variety of matters including regulatory compliance, contracts, litigation, insurance and risk management, intellectual property, governance, consumer and commercial lending and deposit transactions and loan documentation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, and general corporate matters.

  • Provides analysis and counsel for a wide range of legal matters, including advising on risk reduction, regulation interpretation, contract creation, negotiations, and litigation. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company.
  • Develops and recommends company policy and position on legal issues.
  • Provides direct counsel on matters of great significance. These may include protecting intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, financial structuring, nondisclosure agreements, outsourcing agreements, business strategic planning, and other legal mat
  • Provides leadership and strategy as the legal team represents the company in various legal proceedings, prepares legal pleadings, motions, discovery, and stipulations.
  • Manages legal relationships with business units and outside counsel.

Education:

  • Law/Juris Doctor Degree - Required


Qualifications:

  • 15+ Years Experience in the financial services and/or corporate department of law firm, or equivalent experience in the financial services sector. - Required.
  • Ability to assimilate new information, recommend solutions, communicate and collaborate with legal and business professionals at all levels.
  • A solid understanding of laws and regulations impacting payments and financial services, including third party risk management and federal and state money transmission laws is also needed for this role.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret both internal and external documents such as general media/publications, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, policies, proposals, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of management through clear, informed and logical discussions/presentations.
  • Advocates effectively, readily command attention and respect in groups as demonstrated by people listening to and getting on board with initiatives for his/her assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to think critically, analyze information and to evaluate the implications of a course of action or solution.
  • Ability to effectively resolve difficult disputes and business challenges using highly refined functional, partnering and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to quickly and accurately solve problems and come up with value added solutions.
  • Possesses superior interpersonal skills and builds and maintains strong and deep relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Possess excellent organization and time-management skills with the flexibility to manage ever-shifting priorities for multiple clients while meeting deadlines and maintaining high quality work.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of low-income housing tax credit financing, use of subordinated debt and other complex financing strategies.
  • Familiarity and understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction: - Required.

  • Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.

What Else You Need To Know:

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

Base Pay Range:

Minimum:

$210,000.00 USD

Maximum:

$370,000.00 USD
