Syndication Underwriter – Auto Finance

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience underwriting syndicated relationships – Strongly preferred.
  • Handles data input, verification of covenant compliance and borrowing bases, reporting, servicing.
  • Familiarity with syndicated loan documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

The Difference You Make:


The Syndication Underwriter - Auto Finance (Senior Specialist) evaluates, structures, and underwrites large financing transactions for automotive dealerships and auto loan portfolios. This role assesses borrower creditworthiness, collateral, and overall risk to support sound lending decisions. The incumbent structures financing solutions, establishes loan terms, monitors portfolio performance, ensures compliance with underwriting standards, and collaborates with lending partners to syndicate credit facilities and effectively manage financial exposure. Through detailed financial analysis and risk assessment, this role helps deliver profitable, well-performing lending relationships while maintaining the organization's credit quality and risk objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, review, underwrite, and process loan applications and supporting documentation.
  • Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, assets, liabilities, collateral, and credit data to assess risk and repayment capacity.
  • Evaluate dealership groups, commercial borrowers, and loan portfolios for creditworthiness.
  • Structure financing transactions, including pricing, interest rates, loan terms, and covenants.
  • Recommend lending decisions on secured and unsecured credit facilities.
  • Conduct debt service, cash flow, collateral, and credit risk analysis.
  • Ensure loans comply with internal underwriting policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate with borrowers, relationship managers, and internal stakeholders to obtain and evaluate required information.
  • Manage pending applications and workflow within the Loan Origination System (LOS).
  • Review loan documents, covenant compliance, borrowing bases, servicing activities, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor borrower and portfolio performance and identify emerging credit risks.
  • Coordinate with banks and lending partners to syndicate credit facilities and distribute risk exposure.
  • Support relationships with clients, lenders, and internal business partners.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, credit underwriting, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Previous experience underwriting syndicated lending relationships strongly preferred.
  • Experience in commercial lending, corporate banking, or auto finance preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, financial statement analysis, risk assessment, and credit evaluation.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial information and draw sound credit conclusions.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency with financial calculations, including profitability, ratios, debt-service coverage, and cash flow analysis.

  • Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education.

What Else You Need To Know:

The base pay range for this position is posted below and represents the annualized salary range. For hourly positions (non-exempt), the annual range is based on a 40-hour work week. The exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications and location.

Base Pay Range:

Minimum:

$65,625.00 USD

Maximum:

$107,500.00 USD
